Stourbridge Stagger 10m (ish) - 7th Feb 2010

Linda Howell & Mike Scotney out for a Sunday run!

Fun (although I'm not sure that Steve J will agree!) was had at this annual BvH favourite, traipsing across the North Worcestershire Footpath and various trails around the Pedmore and Stourbridge surrounds ....

Report by Linda Howell:

13 brave, or slightly crazy, BvHers lined up to take part in the Stourbridge Stagger, a 10ish mile multi terrain route through the countryside around Stourbridge.

Hills, sand, mud, a few more hills, pregnant sheep, a brief respite, some more, even muddier hills, and fantastic fun! It’s one of those races where people talk to each other, you worry if the person ahead of you slips rather than thinking of it as a place gained.

I can’t provide a blow by blow account as I was someone distracted my Mike, telling me to catch the lady in front and me, trying to convince him it was a training run, and the man who was breathing alarmingly heavily. I did enjoy the company of an Evesham runner who provided great support up a very muddy incline, I think it was at about 6miles…..ish.

Everyone enjoyed it, Marie was disappointed to find herself near the finish, Nicki came through the line looking fresh enough to do it again (she declined), Lesley Proctor thought it was shorter than it actually was as she was loving it and Will needed Espresso J. Well done to all!!

It’s a great event, as film reviews sometimes say, you would love this if you enjoyed the likes of the Rubery rumble, the Suicide Six, the Sodbury Slog, and the like. And lucky us! Stourbridge also puts on a fantastic evening race in the lighter months called the Stourbridge stumble, so keep an eye out!
